holiday open house(party)

This weekend we hosted what was suppose to be a simple holiday open house.  But really, can anything around the holidays just be labeled, "simple"?  I think not.  And I wouldn't have it any other way!

j.crew outlet snowflake tee (last year)
j.crew silk taffeta parlour skirt via ebay
style & co. shoes via macy's (last year)

This skirt just seemed like a perfect choice to play hostess in. The quality and color choices of old J.Crew is beyond compare.  And since I'm on the topic of J.Crew, here is my J.Crew store inspired holiday decoration.  Well, it's not really inspired, it's a complete rip off!

I feel like Martha Stewart.  Hang a large branch with fishing line from quick release hooks on the ceiling.  Give the appearance of it hanging from ribbon by using ribbon to hide the fishing line.  Hang ornaments you bought at after Christmas sales.
It's a good thing.

Where the store used bracelets and necklaces to hang for sparkle, I used simple sequin trimmings from Joanne Fabrics!

Note the bottle of Skinnygirl Margaritas.  If you like original margaritas on the rocks, you will love this! Just pour over ice and serve.  Um...speaking of ice...

Mr. M worked all week making these ice cubes.  He'd come home from work and say, "the ice cubes, I have to make more ice cubes!"  I'm not sure of the technicalities behind it, but supposedly the cubes were suppose to melt slower than normal and by golly, he was right!
Come on now, I live in Milwaukee.  You wouldn't expect anything less would you?

Here Mr. B is asking if the men would make it on the blog.  I'm an equal opportunity blogger.  Handsome men get a prominent spot, too!

Being able to hang out with friends that we don't often see is one of the main reasons we like to have a holiday get together.  I love my girlfriends!

We had a nice group of around 50 people stop in.  Plenty of food, beverages (alcholic and non), and good spirit to kick of the holidays.

Success.

If I could have, I would have sent all of YOU an invitation, too.

Have a great Monday!

23 people had this to say:

  1. Look at all that recycling. What a good cause ;-). You look completely smashing and I adore your shoes. You pulled it all together. I knew you would.
